The Trevenson Road Implementation Plan has now been updated following additional public consultation in August 2007. The plan has been submitted to Kerrier District Council as a representation to the emerging Area Action Plan and will be taken as a material consideration in the authority's planning decisions.
To complement the implementation plan, design guidance for streets and spaces within the area is now being developed. This guidance is made up of design codes and a public realm strategy. Drafts can be downloaded from this page.
The codes are produced to ensure that any future developers in this area achieve the high design standards that CPR Regeneration and its partners have set as their aim. They include aspects of highway design, landscape, community safety, development block and street layout, connectivity, parking, sustainable drainage, accessibility, materials and local distinctiveness. The codes are not prescriptive about building style - there is freedom to develop designs at the planning application stage - but they set down some important parameters about position, height, fronts and backs, and entrances. The codes are based on a framework that shows how the different regeneration projects will come together to create a sustainable new place for Pool with Heartlands at its centre.
The implementation plan itself provides a framework for all development in this area and is closely integrated with other adjacent plans such as the Dudnance Lane Implementation Plan which can also be viewed on this site. The Homes and Communities Agency have agreed funding to support the development of the key projects in the area including Heartlands, East Hill junction and development off Trevenson Road. The masterplan sets out a framework for the scale, layout and uses of future development in the area. This will help deliver a significant part of a new business focus creating opportunities for office based employment. It will create a higher quality environment both in building design and landscape, with the Heartlands Park at its core. The plan also allows for the sustainable expansion of residential development close to and helping to support the village centre of Pool.
The document can be downloaded in three parts from this page.
Work has now been completed on two major projects within the TRIP. They are East Hill Junction and the Pool Innovation Centre. Work has also started on Heartlands which is due to be completed in autumn 2011. Outline planning has been approved for two further sites Trevenson Gateway and Trevenson Park North, and detailed planning permission has been achieved for the access roads in Trevenson Park South. Phase 1 of the housing in Trevenson Park South is now being pursued through the HCA's public land initiative.
