Work started on the £3.5 million Barncoose Link Road in early 2007. The project - which is being lead by Kerrier District Council in partnership with CPR Regeneration and Cornwall County Council - will deliver a new section of road to link Barncoose Industrial Estate with the A3047. The funding for the project has been provided by Department for Transport, South West Regional Development Agency and Objective One.
Even prior to construction, the plans have proved to be a catalyst to development at Barncoose with several projects now being delivered. Midas Developments has completed its Carn Brea Business Park scheme delivering over 5,000sqm of new quality industrial space. The NHS Cornwall Food Project, also benefiting from Objective One funding, is now under construction and will create a new 1,000sqm facility. Construction started in Spring 2007. Pepper Properties Ltd has also submitted a planning application for a mixed scheme of industrial and office space totalling over 8,000sqm. Kerrier District Council owns most of the remaining land adjacent to the new road and is preparing a development brief that will promote further employment space.
