The CPR Works team worked with local businesses to identify skills gaps or labour market constraints and helped to train local workless people keen to return to work. Funded by Jobcentre Plus and the European Social Fund, the project began in April 2006 and ended in December 2007.

As well as working with businesses, CPR Works staff worked to support individuals and developed and ran a number of training courses, including Customer Service, Construction, Care and Factory/Distribution. Other job related training aimed specifically at local vacancies was provided throughout the project.

Local employers were directly involved in the design and delivery of the courses, and each included elements at improving employability and confidence levels. After completing appropriate training CPR Works staff continued to work with individuals and help them to move into employment.

The project was successful and by the end of December 2007 had worked with 329 people. The clients achieved 225 qualifications and 103 started new jobs. All contractual targets were exceeded by the end of the project.

CPR Regeneration aims to continue this successful project and staff are working within the Convergence framework to help achieve this.

In addition, a six month contract has been agreed with Cornwall Works to continue to work with some of the most disadvantaged clients - those in receipt of Incapacity Benefit or other health related benefits for over 2 years. This short term contract aims to bridge the gap between the project which ended in December and the introduction of new contracts under the Convergence Programme.
