The Cornwall Works Plus team assists people who are not working to find suitable jobs. This service, funded by the Department for Works and Pensions and the European Social Fund (EU Convergence funding) and delivered in partnership with Working Links, is split into two areas.

Assisting workless clients

People out of work whether long term or recent redundancies, in the North Kerrier Area can take advantage of free advice and guidance offered by our Employments Advisors. This part of the project focuses on assisting people back to work and can include a wide range of support including help to fill the gaps between benefits and the first salary payment, protective clothing, help with travel or childcare, sourcing training, signposting to other agencies to help with specific issues, sourcing grants to help clients undertake training. The project runs from July 2008 to June 2011 and will help over 700 people of which 280 will find jobs.

Employer Solutions Service

The Employer Solutions Service enhances the work of employment advisors by assisting workless clients find jobs. The project sources vacancies from employers and places clients into these vacancies from Cornwall Works Plus teams across West Cornwall. These teams are from the following organisations: CPR Regeneration; Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change; Penwith Community Development Trust; Cornwall Centre for Volunteers; and Lizard Pathways.

The project will provide an effective and efficient service to help employers find the right candidates to fit their jobs.

This service will run from February 2009 until July 2011 and will help place 350 people into jobs.
