Pool Innovation Centre is now linked in to the Peninsula Growth, Acceleration and Investment Network (GAIN). The GAIN will be an umbrella organisation for research-driven enterprise and will be based in the new Marine Centre at Plymouth University. The Innovation Centre is run by Plymouth University on behalf of Cornwall Council and as such is well-placed to take advantage of the benefits that GAIN will bring to the region.

Cornwall Council and CPR Regeneration have welcomed a major step forward for the multi-million pound Camborne-Pool-Redruth (CPR) Transportation Package. The Government announced last week (Feb 4) that proposals have cleared a crucial funding hurdle. The scheme, which will provide much needed highway infrastructure for the CPR area, has been promoted into the Government's Development Pool of major transport projects for which it will consider providing significant funding contributions.

Work is now well underway in the Cornwall College grounds from the main entrance north across the College site and out towards Trevenson Church. Developments are also progressing south towards Heartlands. The work in the College site is to provide a sustainable drainage system for the subsequent developments in and around Heartlands and should, weather permitting, be complete by early Spring.

The Pool Innovation Centre, which opened its doors last year as part of regeneration work to stimulate economic growth and development in the heartlands of Cornwall, has performed much better than expected in its first few months.

A mysterious group calling themselves the "Graffiti Grannys" (sic) hit Redruth Town Centre on Sunday as part of their on-going spree to decorate the Cornish urban landscape with their handiwork. The 'Tinner's hounds' which sit on Redruth's Fore Street were dressed in hand-knitted colourful cardigans, coats, earrings and even anklets!

As part of Cornwall Council's work to clear the way for major office and housing developments at Trevenson Park South, in Pool, contractor CORMAC has been undertaking the demolition of redundant buildings to enable the construction of a new access road and boulevard between Dudnance Lane and Trevenson Road. The new boulevard will also open up a key vista to Robinson's Shaft at the core of the Heartlands project from the north via a wide pedestrian friendly street.

Over 25 ex-staff members from Camborne School of Mines (CSM) took a trip down memory lane as they visited the Berlewen building, their former offices, on Friday 4 June.
CPR Regeneration helped to arrange a tour around the building with Cornwall Learning, JW Engineering and Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C) all welcoming the group to their current offices in the Berlewen Building. The group then went on to visit the new Pool Innovation Centre and finished up with a tour of Heartlands Park in the afternoon.
