Developer Priority Sites has begun work on four high quality factory units at Treleigh Industrial Estate in Redruth.
The £2.9 million development, which has been supported by £880,000 of funding from the ERDF Convergence programme, will consist of four flexible units, totalling 2,806 square metres.
The units will be able to support up to 70 jobs, and are being built to a BREEAM excellent standard which will make them among the greenest buildings in Cornwall.
Two have already been sold to Cornwall-based company Calidus Engineering, which specialises in technology for the oil, gas and geothermal industries. The company is relocating as part of a £1.4 million expansion and will occupy 1,580 sq metres.
The remaining two units offer 1,212 sq metres and are available to buy or let individually or as a whole. Interested parties should contact Priority Sites on 01326 219530.
Environmental features will include low energy lighting, solar reflective glass windows, high levels of insulation, a sustainable drainage system and natural lighting and ventilation. The construction is due to be completed in May next year.
Robert McGuffie, Priority Sites' senior development manager for the South West, said: "It's great to see work start on our Treleigh development in Redruth. We are delighted that Calidus is taking two of the units and we would be interested to hear from any other businesses looking to relocate to the area."
Mark Yeoman, Deputy Director of the Convergence Partnership Office for Cornwall and the isles of Scilly, said, "This ERDF Convergence investment is helping Priority Sites Limited provide much needed modern workspace for business expansion. The success and growth of local businesses will help drive our economic recovery and provide very welcome new employment opportunities."
Ian Whale, communities infrastructure manager for the South West RDA, which administers ERDF Convergence investment in new workspace, said: "Treleigh is an excellent location near the A30 dual carriageway and is already home to a diverse range of businesses. This latest development from Priority Sites will create more high quality accommodation and its high environmental standards mean reduced running costs for occupiers."
CPR Regeneration assisted Priority Sites with its application for ERDF Convergence investment to help bring this project forward.
