Literal Success Brings Clutch of iPods

Nine local people who all work in the Camborne, Pool and Redruth area have successfully completed a five week evening course, organized through CPR Regeneration, the urban regeneration company for the area, to improve their knowledge of personal finance issues and their literacy skills.  The group heard a number of guest speakers including the Citizens Advice Bureau, a financial adviser, and a credit union during the course.  They all passed the national adult literacy test at Level 1 or 2 and as a result all received an iPod touch as a useful learning tool.

Kima Mohajeran, who manages Pendarves Residential Home said, "The course was great.  I gathered a lot of really helpful information about personal finance issues which will be useful for me and that I can pass on to others.  I was expecting that a course on literacy and numeracy might be a bit basic but it wasn't and I have recommended to a couple of colleagues that they try to go on the next course in October."

Mark Smith, Business Development Director at CPR Regeneration, said, "I am delighted that we have been able to help provide local employees with the opportunity to learn about personal finance and extend their literacy skills at the same time.  It is great to know that this training will be making a difference to the prospects of local people and local businesses in the future."
