HRH the Duke of Kent meets Mark Grice at the Pool Innovation Centre opening.
6 October 2010
An internet company has made a move to new offices in West Cornwall to take advantage of the fastest broadband in the county.
Until recently Redfuse Internet was based in Truro, but has relocated to Pool Innovation Centre due to its state-of-the-art facilities.
Since starting the business 18 months ago, owner Mark Grice has seen it grow phenomenally.
He said: "The move to Pool Innovation Centre coincided with our need to expand and meet the needs of the company as it grows.
"High speed broadband is advantageous to any business, but to an internet company it gives us that extra edge we need to deliver amazing websites for our clients."
Mark has seen a huge growth in e-commerce websites, where clients need online booking systems.
Bernard Curren is the Pool Innovation Centre director. He said: "The centre is seen very much as the 'hub' of business for the Camborne, Pool, Redruth area engaging not only the tenants but also the wider business community with a resource which, to this point, has not been available.
"It is a pleasure to support Redfuse within the centre's business community which is growing rapidly. The centre has full fibre connectivity ensuring the highest speeds of data transfer."
Pool Innovation Centre consists of more than 49 offices of five different sizes, with shared meeting rooms, conference facilities, amenities, reception area and break-out areas.
Led by Cornwall County Council and delivered by the University of Plymouth, it is backed by £9 million of ERDF Convergence investment, and almost £3 million from the South West RDA.
The success of Redfuse over the past 18 months has come as something of a pleasant surprise to Mark who is now looking to take on another member of staff.
"When I started the company it was just me, then I took on another full time employee and I've had two work experiences graduates in over the summer to help manage the work load," he said.
"I'm now looking to take on an intern, with support from UCP and the University of Plymouth, to join Redfuse and that may lead to a full time position."
