Proposals for another key part of Cornwall County Council's Strategy to improve transport links in the Camborne, Pool and Redruth area will be on show at a public exhibition at the Carn Brea Leisure Centre between 10am and 8pm on Friday July 27th.
The County Council has developed a range of proposals to improve the transport infrastructure as part of overall urban regeneration plans for Camborne, Pool and Redruth.
It is currently awaiting a decision from the Government on a bid for funding for this Transport Strategy. The key elements of the Strategy include:
. An East-West Link Road between Camborne and Redruth, including a new road between Dolcoath and South Crofty, connecting to an improved Wilson Way and through to
the Barncoose Link Road,
. The creation of an improved North-South link to the A30 by the upgrading of Tolvaddon Road and Dundance Lane to urban dual carriageway standards, and
. Enhancements to the existing A3047 between Camborne and Barncoose to benefit public transport, pedestrians and cyclists.
The exhibition contains preliminary details of part of the proposals to create an east-west link between Wilson Way and Dudnance Lane. This will form part of the overall east - west route between Barncoose and Dolcoath, serving development areas and removing through traffic from the A3047.
This exhibition follows on from draft proposals published in November last year for another part of the route comprising the improvement of Wilson Way.
The designs for the widening of the southern section of Dudnance Lane and Station Road, and a new link to the south of Carn Brea Leisure Centre, provide for a modern standard single carriageway road with roundabouts, right turn lanes, traffic signal controlled junctions, and cycle and pedestrian facilities. They have been drawn up along the line of the overall strategy previously published and approved for the area.
"This is an important scheme which will support the regeneration proposals and enable new development, as well as alleviating present and future traffic congestion problems in the
area " said Matt McTaggart, (Lib Dem), the County Council's Executive Member for Planning, Transportation and Estates.
"It will improve accessibility to the area, provide safe highway layouts for all users and enable traffic to flow freely along Wilson Way. The aim of the exhibition is to provide information about the proposals and enable us to seek opinions and feedback from the public, local businesses and the wider community."
Comments made at the exhibition will be used by Highways Officers to develop detailed proposals for this element of the overall scheme, which will be the subject of a formal consultation process and the submission of planning application for the project.
The exhibition is being staged jointly with CPR Regeneration which has just published its proposals to regenerate 78 acres of mainly brownfield land on either side of Dudnance Lane and will be consulting on the plans until August 10th.
