Redruth - Level 2 Strategic Flood Risk Assessment

Appendices available on request

This Assessment commissioned under the Redruth Action Plan Project (RAPP) was undertaken in conjunction with the Environment Agency and Cornwall Council addresses the identified flood risk affecting sites and buildings in Redruth Town Centre, providing a 'Tool Kit' for managing water and a coordinated management plan for its future mitigation. The Assessment has been produced in accordance with Planning Policy Statement 25 (March 2010) and has been submitted to Cornwall Council to adopt as Council Policy. An Outline Design and feasibility has now been prepared (August 2011) for the Brewery Quarter and is available as a separate download.

Redruth - Brewery Quarter floodable Corridor Outline Design Report - August 2011

This work builds on the SFRA Level 2 work to provide a technically acceptable development solution for the Brewery Quarter and other key employment sites in Chapel Street that ensures that the flood risk to these sites is reduced to an acceptable level and that any flood risk is not increased downstream to meet the requirements of PPS 25. The scheme will also provide an attractive pedestrian and cycle link from the town centre. This work will be used to develop a planning application in consultation with the landowners with a view to implementing the scheme in conjunction with a new mixed use scheme to revitalize the area.
